  • 1 lb beef strips (sirloin or ribeye)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce (optional)
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, ginger, garlic, and vegetable oil for the marinade. Add beef strips and marinate for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté sliced onions until soft and caramelized; season with salt and pepper. Remove from pan.
  3. Increase heat to high. Add marinated beef strips to the same pan and stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until browned.
  4. In a small bowl, mix rice vinegar with cornstarch and add to the pan once beef is cooked. Stir until the sauce thickens.
  5. Return sautéed onions to the pan and combine everything well. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
