  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil (120 mL)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (50 g)
  • 8 oz softened cream cheese (225 g)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (120 g)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk (240 mL)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (90 g)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the vanilla cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs; mix until smooth.
  3. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan.
  4. In another bowl, blend the softened cream cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until creamy.
  5. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the batter in the pan.
  6. Top with remaining batter, covering as much of the cream cheese layer as possible.
  7. Whisk cocoa powder with milk and drizzle over the top.
  8. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top for added flavor.
  9. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  10. Allow to cool completely before slicing and serving.
